MillionCars.my – Online Trading Platform for Cars

Friday, November 12th, 2010

I had the pleasure to discuss with Nasri, a regular Meshio.com reader, on his new venture- MillionCars.my, an online trading platform for cars. Let’s see how this new kid on the block will give existing players such as Motortrader.com.my and AutoWorld.com.my a run for their money.

www.millioncars.my

Following is my interview with Nasri on how he intends to break into the online car trading marketplace.

Yow Chuan: How did the idea of this project came about?
Nasri: The whole idea begin from Mohd. Izzat Abdul Malek, the founder and the director of Million Car Enterprise. He is a graduate from Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor Degree in Actuarial Science under the Smeal College of Business in May 2010.

Millioncars.my Founder - Mohd Izzat Abdul MalekYow Chuan: Why cars, and not any other products?
Nasri: He’s very enthusiastic about cars and he has done a lot researches on the car marketplaces that are available in Malaysia. Finally, he came out with the idea of designing its own website.

Yow Chuan: How is MillionCars different from other players in the car trading marketplace?

Nasri: MillionCars website is not a typical car online marketplace. The first phase development of this website is just to give a chance for the dealers and buyers to get used to the website. At this moment, individuals or dealers could register in a separate account.

Yow Chuan: What is the difference between an ‘Individual Account’ and a ‘Dealer Account’?

Nasri: The individual account is basically opened to any individuals who want to sell a car. Individuals would receive 25 credits at the time of registration and they could use the credits to post, renew, ad and pro long their ads. If they want to post more than 4 ads, they need to upgrade their account to be a dealer. The second type of account is made strictly for car dealers. They will receive 250 credits at the time of registration and they will also get their own online showroom that can be seen from the “Dealer” Page. The google map feature is also implemented in this website to provide the customers better direction to get to their selected dealer’s showroom.

Yow Chuan: Since MillionCars.my is new to the market, how do you ensure that you can compete with existing players in term of exposure and consumer awareness?

Nasri: We’ll definitely offer extra features in the next few months for the buyers and sellers. We’ll also invest a lot in SEO, online and direct marketing in Malaysia in order to compete with mudah.my which is a Singaporean company. Knowing the fact that there are many free website who are offering free-ads services for most dealers in Malaysia, we’re still in the process of developing better features for all of the users.

Yow Chuan: What other ‘gimmicks’ would you deploy to give MillionCars.my a better edge in the marketplace?

Nasri:The user would have a better navigation system with the dashboard provided on the top of the website. The dashboard will also be filled up with other extra features once the website has been running for couple of months.

The user could browse used or new cars easily from the front page. Our website is not targeted for middle range type of consumers but rather, targeting for all types of consumers.

Yow Chuan: Thanks for sharing your new venture with Meshio.com readers!

Nasri: You are most welcome.

DESIDERATA by Max Ehrmann

Simply beautiful…

DESIDERATA by Max Ehrmann (1927)

Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.

As far as possible without surrender
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons,
they are vexatious to the spirit.

If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain and bitter;
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.

Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.

Exercise caution in your business affairs;
for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals;
and everywhere life is full of heroism.

Be yourself.
Especially, do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love;
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment
it is as perennial as the grass.

Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.

Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe,
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be,
and whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.

With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful.
Strive to be happy.
