This year’s T-Shirt is very thin and “transparent”, could be due to the recent financial crisis. I suggest gals should get another shirt just in case.

I would suggest getting your Terry Fox Shirts before the event. Usually, 2-3 weeks prior to the event, -there’ll be announcements by the organisers on “Collection Booths” around Klang Valley. Last year, I remember there were booths in Bangsar Shopping Complex and Jalan Ampang’s Citibank. Will post the information if I get winds of it.

Also, arrive early to avoid traffic jam. Car pool if possible.

Bring your own water and avoid drinking from the Milo van. Most of the runners last year had very bad stomach ache after consuming the “Sihat dan Kuat” beverage, including yours truly.

Also, I would suggest that the organisers and event sponsors avoid giving out plastic bottled waters since the amount of rubbish and plastic waste generated is very un-eco-friendly.

Nope, there’s no official website this year for Terry Fox Run for KL 2008. Surf to www.terryfoxrun.org for more info. It’s a pity, we’d a great fun helping to run the site last year :~(

  • Melissa, I hope to post up the locations of the T-Shirt distribution booths once it's confirmed. If you are unable to buy the T-Shirt, you can still get them on the day of the event itself.

However, the sizes are not guaranteed to be available.

Hey Hey I'd certainly join in this year's run and shall also get friends to partake the charitable event, and have some fun as well! However, please advise if there are collection centers in the Petaling Jaya area ...quite a hassle with the KL traffic, etc.

I'm interested but may I know which local cancer association will benefit from this event?
  • Rez, the Cancer Research Initiatives Foundation (CARIF) is one of the beneficiary from this fund-raising event. Not sure if there are others though.

I've just updated the details of T-Shirt collection points and the time where you can collect them.

Also, you can opt to become a volunteer during the event. Contact Ms Jo Tan or Ms Yoon at organizer@terryfoxrunkl.org.

I enjoyed participating in the Run last year and am considering volunteering this year. But could I ask what kind of jobs volunteers are usually required to do?

Updates: T-Shirt booth set up at 1-Utama (New Wing) community corner on 25 & 26 Oct 2008.
  • G Wong,

They need volunteers for mainly 2 things :

    a) To sell as many t-shirts as possible and to help out on the Run Day. If you are interested in selling t-shirts, then you just have to take as many orders as possible from you friends, colleagues and family members and persuade them to come for the run. Enclosed are the fact sheet, t-shirts sizes and picture of the t-shirt for your perusal.

    b) if you are interested in helping out on the Run Day, they need help with marshalling on the route. there is no training necessary, and you will be guided. however, it would mean that you would have to be at the Lake Gardens by 7.00am for the briefing and position placement.

    c) You may contact Ms Jo Tan or Ms Yoon at organizer@terryfoxrunkl.org if you would like to be a volunteer
  • Just to update, there is confirmed t-shirts sales on the ground floor, menara citibank from 20th to 24th October, 12.00pm to 2.00pm and in 1 utama (new wing) on the weekend 25 and 26th october from 10am to 8pm

can anyone send me the map of the location? If I go with public transport, i.e. LRT/Comuter, which is the nearest station? Bank Negara? Thanks.
  • Unfortunately, there's no nearby LRT in the vicinity of Lake Gardens. Correct me if I am wrong, but I think the closest one would be somewhere near Masjid Jamek, some 10-15km away!
  • Muzammil

    I wanna JOIN!
    How far is the run?
    Can we donate?
    how?
