Just came back from the Malaysia Day celebration at Kelana Jaya Stadium, an event held by the Pakatan Rakyat. This is the day when Malaysia was formed back in year 1963.
The event started at around 7 pm, just in time for buka puasa. The “rakyat” starts coming in droves at around 9 pm.

The speakers start giving speech one by one, starting with Syed Ibrahim (Gerakan Mansuhkan ISA), followed by Penang’s Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng. You can see below that the stadium is slowly getting more pack as the people starts to sit down on the mat prepared by the Organiser. It’s like school children attending a class in a gigantic open air classroom.

Here’s a shot of the party’s main celebrity- Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim himself. He seems very confident with the “peaceful takeover”.

The whole event ended peacefully with everyone singing to the national anthem Negaraku, and hoping for a brand new Malaysia tomorrow.
Will 16 September 2008 truly give birth to a brand new nation? The rakyat is definitely ready for a change, but are these politicians prepared to deliver?
A point to remember: nobody ever thought that the PR coalition could sweep up the 5 states in the last General Election! This only goes to show that politicians who are ignorant of the people’s power do so on their own peril.
