Shell Scam

Carson Ding alerted this Shell Scam on his blog:

Maklumat! dari SHELL Mlys. Anda tlh berjaya Memenangi Caj tunai RM 17. 000, Sila dial No’telipon Office: 00628161108672 Penghantar:Shell Malaysia.

Translation: Information! From SHELL Malaysia. You have won cash RM 17,000, please dial office telephone number 00628161108672 Sender: Shell Malaysia.

I am not sure if it’s available in other languages, but do spread the word on this scam.

    Our shop phone no was once being targeted about a month ago. This silly scam has actually used the name of ASTRO or Shell to make the public believe that they have won the RM17,000.

    Calls pouring in from all over Malaysia, including residents from Sabah and Sarawak. Those calls were very irritated as the excited message receivers would call immediately to claim their money. And when we told them, “This is not Astro/Shell, you’ve called the wrong no.”, they insist to know more about how to claim the 17,000 again! Some even screw us up saying that “DON’T ever text me again!”

    Just don’t know why our tel no would fall into the hand of the scam…
    Someone please tell me where to lodge a complaint…

    I would say go to the police and lodge a report.
