Bitter Medicine

Mareen Fischinger - Chinese MedicineWe live in a generation of “NOWs”.

Everything must be instant. Instant noodles. Instant coffee. Instant cash (credit cards). Instant solution. Instant satisfactions.

Actions that needs to wait for a period of time will not look as appealing than those that will produce immediate response. Delayed gratification is a sin.

The motto is “Live today now” (or “Party like there’s no tomorrow”).

While it’s true that we should always live in the present and appreciate every moment of it (just like I am enjoying typing this post), we should be responsible about tomorrow by planning ahead.

Before a good harvest, the farmers had to toil under the hot sun. The farmer who slacks off might just starve throughout the winter while others reap.

Quick fix usually stops the pain, but doesn’t cure you for good. Good medicines usually taste bitter.
