I am sure there are many methods you can “implement” to screw up a successful new business venture or a project that has just kicked off.
You can probably use lousy time management to make sure deadlines are not kept and quality of work is not checked.
Also, one good way is to put the talents where they cannot perform, such as putting someone who loves talking about your products in the administrative department where she’ll spend the entire day checking office inventories or approving leaves.
You can also instill change resisting culture in the organisation, where anyone who comes up with a brave new idea gets fired the next morning.
However, I have yet to see nothing comes more efficient than setting up the venture with a group of greedy key shareholders fighting for their shares once the business starts generating profits. This one ensures all morale in the organisation dips to rock bottom. Strategies are planned to oust each of the shareholders out, instead of trying to make the business profitable. Marketing stories are made amongst the shareholders to root for either one of the camp.
As much as modern management theories can go about explaning what works and what doesn’t, there’s still much we need to learn on how to manage an individual’s characteristics in the organisation.
Greed, I assure you is one sure fire way to destruct a business venture. Remove any possible loopholes that can let the element of greed flourish. Starting with a well-written profit-sharing agreement is one.
Greed, not money, is the root of all evil ;-)
