Maybank’s Waiting Time

As I am typing this, I am still waiting for my call to get thru to a human voice at Maybank’s Customer-Don’t-Care hotline (03-2070 3333).

My average waiting time on the phone with one of the Malaysia’s largest bank is about 15-20 mins before a real human picked up the phone.

Maybe when you are big, customer experience doesn’t matter as much anymore.

Okie, I am more determined now to open an account with Public Bank. I should have done this earlier, as the place where I live (Kelana Jaya) and work (Tropicanna) is surrounded by Public Bank branches.

Okie, it’s 28 minutes, and it still hasn’t got thru. I gave up with Maybank. Today.

I kinda agree with you. That bloody maybank sucks. Imagine try to call for their service from overseas. I'll joint the ship for Public Bank as I also got some unit trust there and probably will got red carpet service with PB. Anyhow, like ur blog and already registered in my google reader.

I tried to open a Maybank Premier account - supposedly you can apply online, then wait 3 days for everything to be ready.

Time came, went automatically to the Maybank at the Curve, initial deposit ready. The clerk had to fill up every form by hand anyway! Kept going back & forth, photocopying this and that, getting this and that form.

Do you know how long the whole process took?

    ONE. FREAKING. HOUR. 15. MINUTES.

    To open ONE account.

Maybank management has really lost it if they half-assedly offer "online application" (that makes no difference), then make their people re-write everything (by hand) on many forms, never make sure their people work faster even if they had to do everything manually. How much is it costing them to pay 1 hour of the account opening manager? And how much of customers' time are being wasted, including parking fees?
  • Hey DX, I wouldn't mind if they serve a cup of coffee while letting us wait.

Well, there's a whole list of banks out there who wants our businesses.

Maybank has it advantages, with their extensive network and all, but a bank is not about network and number of ATMs. I want to know my money is kept with a reliable, efficient and responsive institutions.
