This time they capped a RM 50,000 per account limit (for the first two week from March 12th) so that more people is eligible to subscribe to the new units.

In the past, even if you are the first in the long queue, there’s a very high chance you will be told “System hang lah, Encik…” or “Dah habis, Cik…”. Sometimes I really wonder what goes on behind the scene.

Permodalan Nasional Bhd (PNB) will launch 800 million new units of Amanah Saham Malaysia (ASM) and one billion new units of Amanah Saham Wawasan 2020 (ASW) on March 12.

Its chairman Tan Sri Ahmad Sarji Abdul Hamid said Thursday the new units would be opened for subscription beginning 9.30am simultaneously at 1,400 agents and Amanah Saham Nasional Bhd (ASNB) branches nationwide.”The launching of the additional units is to provide an opportunity for more people to invest in the two funds,” he told reporters when announcing the new units here Thursday.

Ahmad Sarji said the two funds have received overwhelming response during their launches previously, and with the additional units made available, “we hope investors will take this opportunity to increase their investments”.

To enable more people to invest, he said a subscription limit of 50,000 units for each account would be imposed for two weeks from March 12, 2007.
