I was caught with a dead battery yesterday night. Yeah, being a very careful driver, I am glad that I have a jumper cable in my car- RM 18.90 bought from one of the local supermarket.
Unfortunately, those RM18.90 cables wasn’t meant for really ‘flat battery’. After trying to jump start the car, the engine just wouldn’t start. It seems like the voltage is too low to actually start the engine. The wiper and radio works though…but that’s not going to get me home. Cheap cables equal false sense of security…
So, I called up my workshop friend and he told me, “Ha…ha…those jumper cable you bought from supermarket? Don’t bother then, those cables won’t work! You need to use my cable- cost about RM 100++.”
And after getting the cable from him, to my surprise, it actually worked, the engine started and I am ready to head back home.
So, the conclusion is, those jumper cables we buy from the local supermarkets are actually false security- just when you thought you are ready for such emergencies, it was never meant to solve the problem.
Always keep your workshop friend’s number- they are the real life-savers!
