After reading that headline, I just can’t help but think of the following expression:
electricity users make profit, TNB make loses.
How much cost-cutting can you still do? I believe it’s always more cost-efficient to simply increase the tariff than to figure which part of the system needs a little fine-tuning.
The Star Online on TNB’s 52% Profit Net Profit…
Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) reported a big jump in profit for its financial year ended Aug 31, thanks to the ongoing cost-cutting measures and the increase in power tariffs.
What do you think?
Well, unless you own some TNB stocks, you might think otherwise.
Again, it’s such a dilemma. As a listed entity, you must be answerable to your shareholders but at the same time, being the country ONE and ONLY electricity provider, shouldn’t you also be answerable to the electricity users (read: the entire population who might not be the shareholders of TNB, including myself)?
Hmm…talk about Corporate Social Responsibility.
