The Edge Daily on July’s CPI…
July consumer price index rose 4.1% from a year ago, driven by higher transport and food costs.The Statistics Department said on Aug 16 that the CPI rose to 104 in July 2006 from 99.9 a year ago.
When compared with June 2006, it said the CPI had risen 0.2% due to increases in eight main groups, including food and non-alcoholic beverages (which accounts for 31.4% of the CPI) and transport (which accounts for 15.9% of CPI).
