For those of you who still remember that the Securities Commission recently gave PNB the greenlit to increase the fund size of her Amanah Saham Wawasan 2020 (ASW 2020) from the existing 3 billion units to 4 billion units (each unit of ASW 2020 is equivalent to a fixed RM 1.00 in the market).
According to the report, the new units will be launched this coming 1st of September, co-inciding with the unveiling of Budget 2007.
I have been getting quite a number of emails from readers asking if they should invest in ASW 2020 and what was the past records of the fund.
Okie, first of all, these are the figures for ASW 2020 for the past few years, and I must say that this fund usually don’t disappoint investors who wants to get better returns than what the banks are giving.
Year/ Net Distribution
2001- 7.25%
2002- 7.25%
2003- 6.60%
2004- 7.00%
2005- 7.10%
2006- 6.80%
Not too bad, eh? So if you are looking for better interest rate than banks, this might be a good investment vehicle.
As stated in the prospectus, this issuance of the fund’s unit is based on an allocation of 49% to non-Bumis and 51% to Bumis.
If you don’t mind adding some more spice to you investment strategy, you can try investing in offshore funds that usually can provide higher, if not double digit returns.
There’s no wind yet as to when can investor start lining up to buy these fried bananas, but it should be announced pretty soon, so get your camping gears ready.
