Online Banking Phishings

Most banks do not use emails with URL that links to their website. If you receive any emails that directs you to any “banking portals”, you’d better raise your alert, as it might very well be a scam to phish your money from your hard-earned savings account.

So the proper step to do your online banking will be:-

(i) Always use your bookmarked web address for your bank’s internet portal; never enter a bank portal via another source such as emails/messengers

(ii) Never access your banking account when using wireless broadband where you are not 100% sure of its security level (e.g. Starbucks, public Wifi spots)

Federal Commercial Crime chief Comm Datuk Ramli Yusuff said the syndicate had sent out e-mails to victims to update their accounts as soon possible, claiming the bank was upgrading its website.
