It seems your fixed deposit savings won’t be growing very much this year if it’s true that Bank Negara ain’t going to be raising the interest rates anytime soon.
The Malaysian Institute of Economic Research (MIER) forecasts the consumer price index (CPI) to hit 4% by the end of 2006, up from 3% a year ago due to the pass-through effects of higher fuel prices and rise in electricity tariffs.
??nflation remains a concern, due to secondary effects from the hike in transport costs and electricity tariff,?? MIER executive director Dr Mohamed Ariff Abdul Kareem said on July 24.
