Fried bananas (Goreng Pisang) is a delicious local Malaysian banana cuisine that is easily available on street walks and Malay warungs (stalls). However, when it’s used as a figure of speech, it has the equivalent effect of “hot cakes” in normal English term. And the RM 1 billion ASM shares did sell like fried bananas yesterday.
I heard from the radio there are even people queueing up since 4 am in the morning!
I thought this only happens to Hello Kitty toy releases from Mc Donald’s.
The Star on ASM’s Fried Bananas
The RM1bil Amanah Saham Malaysia (ASM) shares opened to all Malaysians sold like hot pisang goreng when it was put up for sale from 10am yesterday. They were all was snapped up in a record time of one hour and 45 minutes.
Last year, RM490mil Amanah Saham Wawasan 2020 shares, reserved for non-Bumiputras, sold out in three hours.
I bet the recent inflation hike must have hit home with a majority of the people, and those with huge FD savings must have taken the opportunity to “switch”.
Note: Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB) hired web developers that haven’t heard of Firefox. And their “News” section seems more like the “Archives”…
