Fair MAS Fares?

MAS FARE FAIR?

If you have been receiving tonnes of emails on MAS recent air fare promotions, you must be thinking that finally the nation’s airline is giving discount and tries to attract average holiday-goers like me. Unlike AirAsia (everyone can fly), MAS air fares has always been priced much higher since they can spend RM 1.55 million a year just for decorative paintings.

Well, nothing is further from the truth.

A friend who bothered to take out the calculator and punch in the numbers for the truth behind the marketing buzz have got these findings:

I checked on the MAS fair prices for air tickets for my parents to visit me. So here’s a comparison :
Return fare (KL – MEL)
MAS (Weekday) – RM 1718 + RM 691 = RM 2409
MAS (Weekend) – RM 2198 + RM 691 = RM 2889

Don’t look cheap at all. And there are a long list of conditions tied to these prices. So I went to check SIA.

Return fare (KL – MEL *transit SG)
SIA (Anyday) – RM 1750 + RM790 = RM 2540

Uh-oh…have you booked your tickets with MAS yet?
