If choosing a career can be justified and measured with money, then we should be seeing a lot of happy people rushing to work every day. However, the reality seems to be the other way round, you often here people complain more about their jobs than have anything nice to talk about it on weekends.
I guess there’s 6 very important things in life when it comes to choosing a career path:-
1) FINANCIAL will your career leads you to the path to financial freedom
2) HEALTH will your career be detrimental to your health where you need to be always working OT or will your career allows you to have ample time to work out after office hours
3) FAMILY how much time can you allocate to your family members if you’d chosen this career, will you have more time or will you be spending more hours in your office?
4) SOCIAL LIFE does your job allows you to meet new faces, new people everyday? Or are you always facing the same disgruntled group of staff and unreasonable managers
5) SELF DEVELOPMENT are you learning new things everyday, or you are doing the same thing everyday?
6) SELF ACTUALISATION are you becoming someone you hope to become or after working so many years, you are still only looking forward to the next paycheck?
From these six criterias, determine which one is your most important priority and evaluate how much your existing career path is fulfilling it.
