Meatless Starter Kit

It isn’t an easy path to abstain oneself from meat. Actually, the easy part is convincing yourself that a totally meatless diet is much more advantageous than a meaty diet. I wouldn’t want to go into the details on why one should abstain from meat. Everyone has their own personal reasons.

I am more concern on how, after convincing yourself to go meatless, you can actually continue to lead a normal lifestyle. Let’s face it. You won’t be frequenting KFC, Mc Donald’s as often as you would have been. The first thing that will drastically change in your lifestyle is your food selections. And eating normally takes up about 16% percent of our 24-hour day.

It definitely hasn’t been easy for me, especially when I don’t cook much at home these days. So, I have to ensure that I can easily find a meatless food stall around the place I live. And that’s exactly what I’m going to do.

I will start compiling a list of my favorite meatless restaurant and put up a link here in my blog. If you know of any nice meatless dining experience, drop me a comment here! Thanks!

  • Killar,

Indeed, every dreams worth pursuing is worth sacrifcing for. However, every obstacles cannot be overcome in a single day.

There are a few things you can try for now:-

    1) Identify veggie buddies around your area. These people are very likely the same people who might have been through what you are going through.

    2) Start small by helping out in the kitchen especially whilst preparing meatless dishes.

    3) Take-away meatless food to add to the dishes during lunches/dinners.

    4) Bring them out to a rather fancy meatless restaurant once in a while.

    5) Stay away from oysterman's advice on vegetable cruelty.

    Stop
    vegetable cruelty!

    Meat all the way! Yummy!
  • Another huge factor would be the person(s) that you are staying with that is preparing your meals. It's hard to demand them to prepare something special to you, especially if they are not convinced of the meatless diet.

Going meatless would also means taking extra responsibility to make sure I'm having the right diet. Otherwise, you know, more opposition from the cynics.
